Anthropic Says Claude’s Values Are Different Depending on Which Language You’re Using

Anthropic researchers studied how their chatbot Claude exhibits different behavioral traits across languages, finding that variations in training data can lead to shifts in the model's values and responses. Their analysis of over 300,000 conversations revealed language-specific tendencies in deference, warmth, depth, and candor, such as greater deference in Arabic and more rigor in English and Russian.
