Linux's share of internet traffic in the US surged from about 5% to nearly 10% between May and August 2026, driven mainly by automated web activity rather than increased human usage. Data from Statcounter and Cloudflare indicate this rise may be linked to bots, including AI agents, generating more traffic than humans.
