French AI company Mistral plans to build 1 gigawatt of AI compute capacity in Europe by 2030 to enhance regional AI sovereignty. It will offer regional endpoints for data residency control and allow third-party models like Z.ai's GLM-5.2 to run on its infrastructure. Mistral also formed a coalition with companies like ASML and Amadeus to co-invest in European AI infrastructure.
