Perplexity Introduces PII-TRACE Benchmark and PII-Tracer On-Device Detector

Perplexity launched PII-TRACE, a multilingual benchmark for detecting personally identifiable information (PII) in conversations, and PII-Tracer, a 0.6B-parameter on-device model that flags PII before data is sent to the cloud. These tools support Perplexity's hybrid architecture, enhancing user privacy by keeping sensitive data local or requiring approval before cloud processing.
