Perplexity is quietly building an AI coding tool to rival Cursor and Claude Code

Perplexity, known for its AI search engine, has developed an internal AI coding tool called Teammate, used by its engineers since May, aiming to manage software projects end to end. The tool is model-agnostic, differing from competitors that rely on proprietary models, and may launch publicly in the future.
