Tidal won’t pay royalties on AI-generated music, but isn’t banning it outright

Tidal has introduced a policy to label tracks identified as entirely AI-generated starting July 15, while also prohibiting these tracks from earning royalties. The platform aims to ensure royalties go to human-created music and plans to expand labeling to substantially AI-generated content as detection tools improve. Additionally, Tidal will remove AI-generated music linked to fraudulent activities and encourages proper labeling by content distributors.
