Physicists at ISTA demonstrated a fully autonomous method to entangle distant qubits using a quantum bath of correlated light particles, realizing a 20-year-old theoretical prediction. This approach could enable practical quantum technologies by connecting separated quantum bits without active control or repeated measurements.
