China’s robot traffic police can do almost everything except stop you

China deployed 15 humanoid robot traffic police in Hangzhou to assist human officers by directing traffic, warning violators, and providing tourist information. These robots cannot stop or detain individuals; they only record violations for human review. The deployment aligns with Chinese law limiting coercive powers to human officers and is expanding to other cities.
