EU tells Meta to dismantle Facebook and Instagram’s ‘addictive’ design or face a fine

The European Commission has charged Meta with designing Facebook and Instagram features like infinite scroll and autoplay to be addictive, risking users' mental and physical health. It demands Meta disable these features by default and improve screen-time controls or face fines up to billions under the EU Digital Services Act.
