NHTSA demands autonomous vehicle companies fix first responder interference by end of July

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has ordered autonomous vehicle developers to fix issues causing their vehicles to interfere with emergency responders by the end of July. Incidents include vehicles blocking ambulances and failing to recognize emergency signals. Waymo, operating the largest US robotaxi fleet, is implicated in multiple such events.
