Samsung Heavy Industries plans to launch a purpose-built 50MW floating data centre barge near the coast by 2028 to address land shortages and cooling challenges faced by traditional data centres. This nearshore facility will combine onboard power generation with grid power and leverage seawater cooling, marking a new direction for shipbuilding amid rising AI infrastructure demands.
