Synopsys pulls back from chip fab software to chase AI design margins

Synopsys is discontinuing its manufacturing control software products, including Equipment Engineering System and Fault Detection and Classification, to focus resources on AI chip design. The company has informed major chipmakers like Samsung and SK Hynix about the end-of-life status of these tools, shifting engineers from maintenance to AI design efforts following its acquisition of Ansys.
