The UK government decided not to restrict VPN use despite concerns about children bypassing age checks online, based on research showing most children use VPNs for privacy rather than rule-breaking. Instead, the government is requiring platforms to implement stronger age verification measures and will monitor VPN use voluntarily with providers.
